And also, will they allow it if the sleeping bag is put into a backpack but the backpack is unzipped because the sleeping bag is too big?

From experience, they don’t really care what bag you bring on board as long as you can wheel or carry it in; however, my experiences were from several years ago, so you may want to call them and verify.
