Using Fire Brick to protect Steel Firebox?
I have a prefab Majestic fireplace. The entire firebox is metal. The back refractory panel is warping badly. I am worried a hole is going to form. Can I line the back of the box with fire brick to protect the panel? Anyone with experience have a better idea? Thanks!
Just for clarification….. You are saying that the cement will adhere to the metal? My firebox does not have the fake (prefab) firebrick panels. Its just metal the whole way around. thanks again
It may be easier to use refractory castable, it comes in bags of about 25kg. Clean out the area where the existing refractory has failed, removing loose material, carbon and soot. Use a dense castable of about 1300degC grade. Just mix with water to a paste and trowel it in, exactly like house cement. Leave it to set for 24 hours, and you can use the fireplace again.

British Steel (Exp) $4.37 The guitar riff from “Breaking the Law” is one of the most recognizable from early 1980s heavy metal. Though British Steel sounds dated these days, it’s also a classic slice of metal, one of the best from a band that defined the genre in the late ’70s and early ’80s. Everything that ultimately became characteristic of heavy metal is here, from the lightning-fast riffs on “Rapid Fire,” the anthemic… |
