Why was the camp guard in The Last Emperor executed as anti-revolutionary ?

In the movie The Last Emperor (1987), the camp guard who earlier oversaw Puyi’s release from prison for his merits was led along the young Red Guards’ demonstration as an anti-revolutionary. But if he worked as a prison guard in a prison for people like Puyi (not sharing the communist ideal as China then was), why would he be persecuted by the Red Guards ?

This was a norm in the Communist world (also the Nazis etc, etc).

When a revolutionary starts thinking, and having at least a trace of a heart, the head revolutionary starts feeling threatened and has them killed. Mao and his wife were on par with people like Joe Stalin and Adolf Hitler. Mao and his wife couldn’t allow the “revolution” to suddenly get a brain and a heart, so anyone who still wasn’t a radical had to be murdered.

There were Millions of former “good communists” murdered by Mao and his wife in that next cultural revolution. Actually, Pu Yi was a very lucky person and an extreme exception to the rule as far as being able to survive the communist take over. Almost everyone else was murdered. For instance, in the Soviet Take Over, even the little children of the former rulers were murdered.
