gentlemen’s walking stick/cane?
back in the 1800s gentlemen carried ornate walking sticks. what would be the most common wood would these have been made of
The most common wood used in canes and walking sticks back then (18th and 19th century) was rattan (which is wood from any of a great number of palm trees common to Africa and Asia). Hickory was also common. Other woods (ash and bamboo for example) were (and are) also used for specific types of canes.
