How long is the rope swing help please?
Tom went on the rope swing at Camp Indianola this weekend and just couldn’t resist measuring the time it took for one complete swing( back and forth) using his stopwatch. He measured it to be 7 seconds. How long is the rope swing?
How would I figure this out?
Use the formula:
T = 2 pi *sq root of L/g
T= pendulum period
L = length of pendulum
g = 9.81 m/s^2
solve for L:
7 = 6.28 * sq rt of L / 9.81
square both sides:
49 = 39.44 * L / 9.81
L = 49 /4.02 = 12.2 meters length of rope swing
