Can I use a 40 watt bulb in a 25 watt lamp safely?
So I have this lava lamp that I needed to replace the bulb in. The lamp requires a 25 Watt, 120 V bulb. I went to 2 different stores and the closest thing I could find was a 40 Watts, 120 V bulb.
I figured that as long as I kept the voltage the same, it’d be okay to use but I just need to double check and make sure that I can safely sub a higher watt bulb. Thanks so much!

Seriously, what did you think they put the 25Watt sticker on the lamp for!
As for finding one – hardware stores should have them. Lights that go in fridges are sometimes 25Watt.
