Bike gear is stuck and wont shift?

I have a trek and its stuck on the 4th biggest gear in the back and if I take the chain off and move it down to were it normally is it shoots back up the the 4th gear as soon as I start peddling and its really annoying because I have to pedal really fast to even get anywere can someone help. I don’t really have the cash to take it the shop right now.

Either your shifter is stuck or you shift cable is stuck. Check the cable 1st as it’s most likely the problem. Repair or replace. Lubing your drivetrain does wonders.
