Why is it unhealthy to re-use bottled water bottles? Why is it okay to use them when you first buy them?
Water bottles usually carry a warning to not re-use the bottles once they are empty. What is the differnce between using them when you buy them (full of water), but not later. Please answer only if you know the answer. Thank you.
Okay, first of all everything gets exposed to bacteria including your glasses at home…so that is not the issue. If you clean the bottle before each use and you don’t allow too much time to lapse with water in the bottle then it is perfectly fine. If you put any liquid into any bottle and seal it, especially under warm conditions, then you are closing bacteria into the bottle and allowing it to incubate and multiply. The same is true for ANY bottle. The way to avoid problems is to drink the liquid out of the bottle within the same day that you placed it there. If it is allowed to sit, dump it and re-wash. Don’t be afraid to use the bottles, just remember to keep them clean and drink the contents within a reasonable amount of time. Good luck and definitely reuse and recycle!
